GTM ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS DURING IDP REP FORUM

Today 19 March 2024 IDP rep forum meeting set at Bonn village AFM church in ward 25 in preparation for ward based idp/budget and consultation meetings. Stakeholders from all different forms of society met with the leadership of the municipality to engage on a number of issues concerning service delivery issues affecting communities.

Stakeholders were taken through the IDP document were community needs are registered for either as community needs up until project phases.
The acting Mayor Councillor Thabo Maunatlala, accompanied by members of EXCO, Management led by Acting MM Mr Benjamin Mathebula and other officials from the Greater Tzaneen Municipality including gteda presented to the meeting Projects that are currently in implementation phase and those that are inthe pipeline varying from 2024/2025, 2025/2026 and 2027 were outlined for community consumption.

The acting Mayor also highlighted the importance of stakeholder participation in the IDP process, as it ensures that community needs are accurately identified and prioritized. The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to voice their concerns and provide feedback on the current service delivery issues faced by the community.

During the forum, various community representatives expressed their concerns regarding issues such as inadequate housing, lack of basic, poor roads maintenance, amenities, unemployment, and the need for improved healthcare facilities. These concerns were duly noted by the municipality, and efforts will be made to address them in the upcoming IDP/budget and consultation meetings.

The IDP document serves as a framework for the municipality's development plans and budget allocation. It outlines the community needs and aspirations, which are then translated into projects and initiatives. The municipality's commitment to transparency and community involvement was evident in their detailed presentation of projects currently in the implementation phase, as well as those planned for the future.

The meeting concluded with a call to action for stakeholders to actively participate in the upcoming ward-based IDP/budget and consultation meetings. These meetings will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to further engage with the municipality and contribute to the decision-making process.

Overall, the IDP rep forum meeting was successful in fostering collaboration and dialogue between the municipality and stakeholders. The exchange of ideas and concerns will contribute to the development of a more inclusive and responsive IDP, ensuring that community needs are adequately addressed.
