New Vehicles To Enhance Service Delivery
Today, the Greater Tzaneen Municipality received the delivery of a new waste truck and two pickup trucks. Councillor Constance Ramothwala, the Head of Infrastructure, and Councillor Given Malatji, the Whip of the Council, received the delivery..
Ramothwala commended the management of the municipality for implementing resolutions of the Council. She said Council would continue to provide all the necessary support to the administration to deliver quality services to the communities.
Freedom Mthetwa, the Director for Electrical Engineering, said, "We have ageing infrastructure and an ageing fleet which impact services delivering. Mthetwa said that the shortage of vehicles due to breakdownsmeant that electricians had to work shifts because they shared vehicles. Mthetwa said," This is the first batch of vehicles we received. It is not the last. We want to revamp the entire fleet to bring in suitable vehicles to deliver quality services".
The Greater Tzaneen Municipality provides weekly waste collection to over 20 000 households in Tzaneen, Nkowankowa, Lenyenye, Letsitele, and Heanertsburg.
The GTM also runs Limpopo's most extensive electricity network, with thousands of overhead lines in mountains, farms, and forests.
