MEC VIOLET MATHYE LEADS STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT IN HOVENI VILLAGE

The MEC for Transport and Community Services, Ms Violet Mathye, today led a stakeholder engagement session in Hoveni Village, Ward 26 of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality under Cllr Thulane Shihangule.
This visit forms part of the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Services' ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with local communities and address service delivery challenges at the grassroots level.

During the session, MEC Mathye engaged with traditional leaders, ward councillors, local business representatives, and community members to discuss issues related to Community Services and development initiatives.
Emphasizing the importance of public participation in government planning, MEC Mathye stated:
"Sustainable development can only be achieved through open dialogue with the people we serve. Today’s engagement in Hoveni is a demonstration of our commitment to inclusive planning and delivery."

The Municipality extends its sincere gratitude to all individuals and organizations who contributed to the funeral arrangements. This includes Ward 21 Councillor Sophie Matiana, Ward Committee member Amukelani Mageza, Pastor Mkoki, the Mayor's Office led by Cassius Machimana, and the residents of Nkowankowa who supported the Mabunda family during this difficult time.

Community members raised urgent concerns regarding safety and security, particularly citing incidents of robbery and killings that occurred on 9 and 10 May 2025. They also requested improved training, protective clothing, and essential safety equipment for Community Policing Forum (CPF) members. Additionally, the community appealed for the establishment of a Satellite Police Station to enhance local law enforcement capacity.
