GTM HOST THE 09TH ANNUAL AGRICULTURAL EXPO

This year, the spotlight shines on livestock, as the Greater Tzaneen Municipality and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development join forces to empower local farmers through the 09th annual agricultural expo held at Runnymede Library from today, the 06th June to the 07th June 2024.

The theme for this year is “Advancing resilient agriculture and agro-processing sector, striving to preserve food and job opportunity”. .

In a significant initiative, GTM, through the annual Agri Golf Fundraising tournament has invested R217,000 in livestock branding equipment. This investment aims to bolster the farming community and foster growth opportunities, as highlighted by Benjamin Mathebula, Director for Planning and Economic Development (PED),"Our mission is to support farmers and nurture the expansion of their agricultural ventures."

Acting Mayor, Cllr Ishmael Risiva, emphasized the municipality's commitment to the region's emerging farmers, stating, “the Expo is an annual event aimed at empowering local farmers and fostering growth in the agricultural sector. Each year, the expo focuses on critical aspects of farming, providing attendees with valuable resources, knowledge, and networking opportunities”.

The two-day event drew a substantial turnout from livestock farmers across the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, eager to enhance their skills and knowledge.
