OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF OF THE MINILIB IN SHILUVANE LIBRARY

The MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Nakedi Kekana in collaboration with the South African Library for the Blind today launched a Minilib at Shiluvane Library. The MiniLib aims to make reading accessible to everyone, including the visually impaired.

The Minilib features a diverse collection of books in various formats, from traditional print to audio and Braille editions. This ensures that individuals with visual impairments can also enjoy the pleasure of reading and have equal access to information and knowledge.

"We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our community," said Ms. Lethabo Dikgale from the South African Library for the blind.

"The launch of the Minilib is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to promote literacy and lifelong learning." To celebrate the launch, a special event is currently underway at Shiluvane Library today 2024, featuring demonstrations of the Minilib's accessibility features and testimonials from community members who have benefited from the initiative.

"We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to explore the world through reading," said Dr. Mahwasane from the Library and information Services Board. "With the Minilib, we are taking a meaningful step towards ensuring that our library is a place where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can come together to learn, connect, and grow."

Amongst the dignitaries who attended the launch are Local Traditional Reps, Maroboni Primary School Choir, Director Cate Ntimbani from GTM, Cllr. Renny Mabuza - Acting Mayor, Cllr, Jeepy Makhananisa from Mopani District Municipality, Ms. Ramokgopa, Head of Department, Ms. Lethabo Dikgale from the South African Library for the blind, Dr. Mahwasane from Limpopo Library and Information Services Board, Sekgapa Dance Group, MEC Kekana From Limpopo Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Mangena, District Head,- Mopani District, Cllr Gezani Makhubele,- Ward 27 Cllr. Ward 27 Ward Committee Members.
